What will shipping cost?

A: Shipping costs may change, and the final cost will depend on variables like if we are able to upgrade to hardcover, but we are planning to use https://chitchats.com/ as our service and will be shipping from Quebec.

You can use the site to estimate (please add 3-5$ for packaging - we’re still sourcing some of these materials)

I backed at the “Makoto’s Ex-Boyfriend”, “Land of Cephiro”, or "A Moon Star is Born" level to help create an NPC or world. How will that work?

The design team will schedule time to meet with anyone who backs at a custom content level (we are offering a video call, but are flexible with whatever format people are most comfortable with including chat or by email). This consultation will be with at least one of the three designers of Alchemistresses, and will be around half an hour for NPCs, or an hour for worlds.

After that initial meeting, we’ll create the content based on anything that came up during the consultation, and have it reviewed by you before its final form will go into the game. The consultations will need to be scheduled before the end of September 2022 for the content to make it into the book.

To make this happen, we’ll be sending out questionnaires via our pledge manager as soon as possible once the campaign ends to schedule the consultations.

I backed at the “A Moon Star Is Born” level to play the game with the designers. How will that work?

After the Kickstarter campaign ends, we’ll reach out to schedule an initial meeting where we will get a feel for what you’re looking for in terms of tone and themes for your game, and then plan out the sessions we will run for you. Timing is more flexible than for creating content for the game: we can schedule these further out in the future.

Note that we will be busy fulfilling right after the campaign ends, so we might not be able to schedule anything until a bit after :)

What exactly is a “Handmade Magical Girl Item”?

Allison happens to be a craft fanatic. Here’s how she’s making these: we thrift miscellaneous items (usually big pieces of jewelry - pins, brooches, earrings, pendants - for “small” items and hand-sized objects - compacts, small jewelry cases - for “medium” items). Allison customizes them if desired (painting some, reassembling others, leaving some alone), and then finds a way to attach or embed an LED cast in colored resin, and a way to trigger the LED to light. I think that’s as good a description as I can give. You can see some work-in-progress items here.

Be aware, if you add a handmade magical girl item, what you get will be a surprise; since these are essentially found objects, we can’t easily tailor them.

What does backing at a retailer level entail?

At a retailer level, your pledge is a deposit on an order of physical books for verified retailers. Orders must be for 5+ books or games, with a discount of 50%. Further details will be sorted out via BackerKit after the campaign concludes. The 50$ pledge level is a deposit.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
