Hi senshi,

We've officially sent out our backer surveys from Backerkit! Please check your emails and get them back to us ASAP, as it'll help us as we're polishing up the game and getting ready to fulfill. We appreciate it!

An exciting update: up on our preorder store, you can now find some new handmade magical girl transformation items, three medium and one small. Get 'em while they're hot ;) If you grab one of the medium items, please make sure to add "medium shipping" to your item as well.

Thanks very much - talk to you soon, senshi!

Alchemistresses' Eternal Wish: A Brand New Game
almost 2 years ago – Sat, Jul 30, 2022 at 05:24:42 AM

Hi senshi,

WE DID IT!

Not only did we fund the project, not only did we leave 200 backers in the rearview, but we managed to get over our second sprint goal in the last few hours in the campaign. We've said it before and we'll say it again, but THANK YOU!

Next up, the team will jump right into finishing, printing, and the fulfilling the game. Update might get a bit less frequent but we'll be sure to post from time to time to keep you in the loop. You can expect a backer survey in about two weeks, and in the meantime, our Backerkit store for pre-orders is already up, if you'd like to add to your pledge or have friends who missed out.

One last item: the whole campaign, we meant to ask, just for fun, who knows how we come up with our idiosyncratic update titles. We never got around to it, so I guess now's the time. If you know how we come up with our update titles and you're the first to comment with the answer, we'll throw in a little treat with your order.

Thank you as always - once again, WE DID IT!

Thanks,

Dora

End of the Alchemistresses Campaign: The Final 48 Hours
almost 2 years ago – Wed, Jul 27, 2022 at 07:43:45 PM

Hi senshi!

We're into the last 48 hours of the Alchemistresses campaign!!! So close to the end and we JUST REACHED 200 BACKERS! Thank you thank you thank you, we're so excited to get Alchemistresses to you!

Three quick items for you, senshi! First, Allison has made some more of our extremely limited-edition personalized magical girl transformation items available, so if you were hoping to grab one snap 'em up!

Second, Allison and Dora are going to be on another podcast! We've done a few for this game, but we're excited about this one because Sparkleside Chats with Magical Girl Ayu isn't a gaming podcast but a more general magical girl podcast! We're excited to talk about Alchemistresses for a new group of folks, from a different perspective.

Third and finally - we're about a thousand dollars shy of our second stretch goal, so we wanted to take a moment to talk about it. At that level, we'll include more pre-made NPCs in Alchemistresses book. What does that mean exactly? How are PCs statted in Alchemistresses?

One of the basic questions we've considered for how to treat pre-made NPCs is flexibility: since setting creation is so essential and can go in so many directions (see: our C3 campaign setting, where the "present world" was actually the far future), we don't want to hem GMs in, but we still want to provide something helpful and evocative. With this in mind, we've gone with something that hopefully strikes a good balance: abstract, but also distinct and specific. Below are a few NPCs from our "Swoonworthy Crushes" section (please keep in mind: these are drafts and presented in ashcan format, they have not been laid out or styled!).

Stat block for an NPC called "the drummer". Description: Butchy, drummer arms, queer hair

"The drummer" is an ordinary high schooler - or rather, an extremely cool high schooler, who's maybe not quite as self-assured as they first appear...

Stat block for an NPC called "the fire spirit". Description: Fiery eyes, SO pretty, pink skin.

"The fire spirit" is a being from the past world, not someone evil but someone who may, if it lines up with their interest, allow great evil to occur - or, if the Alchemistresses can reach them, may not...

We love making characters like this, trying to create something specific enough for GMs and players to latch onto, but leaving lots of blank spaces for them to write their own stories in. I personally would love to make 25 more, which is (one reason) why we're really psyched to hopefully hit this stretch goal.

Thanks so much as always!

Designer Allison Loses It: Advent of Alchemistresses Magic Cards"
almost 2 years ago – Sat, Jul 23, 2022 at 07:24:53 PM

Hi all,

If you think Allison doesn't live and breathe Alchemistresses, here is the proof to contradict you.

The other day, Allison saw a youtube video where two people used a neural network to make Magic cards (i.e. cards for the classic collectible card game, Magic: The Gathering). In the video, they tried to play with the cards, with hilarious results.

We repeated the experiment (Allison won, her deck was WEIRDLY synergistic), and the cards we generated included a few references to Alchemistresses (Funded Project, for instance, thank you very much <3). Before we'd finished playing, Allison was already inspired, and the next day, she set to work creating...this.

Presented as a free extra for your perusing pleasure, and theoretically possible to print and play (although good luck making them look exactly like real cards imo), feast your eyes on a special, unofficial, limited-run Magic expansion, developed by Allison Cole with a major assist from Urza's Artificial Intelligence. That's right: Alchemistress Horizons: Five Elements is here.

Hope you enjoy this little flight of fancy, and thanks as always for your support!
